Things to do
There are many Trips and Excursions to take and activities to do during your stay in Sharm
Some people choose to book through the recognised tour operators, for peace of mind should anything go wrong,
Others book through the hotel, on arrival, or there are plenty of tour operators in Sharm.
The latter 2 alternatives are cheaper, but it's entirely up to you. More than likely be the same trip anyway!
Activities
Quad Biking -A great way of getting out into the desert and a fun, fast activity
Thomson charge about £30 per person, can book locally and pay around £6-£12 per person.
Daytime and sunset trips are available (gets very dusty so do buy yourself a local
"Kofeya" or headdress to wrap around your face, and evenings in the desert can be cold so wrap up for the sunset trip)
Seascope Glass bottom boat -
From Naama Bay,
a great way for people to see the beauty of the Red Sea marine life, especially if you don't dive and snorkel.
Camel Riding - A great way to see the desert
Horse Riding - Sunrise or sunset rides on the beach, or in the desert
Swimming with Dolphins -
The locals call dolphins Abu Salama
Desert Bedouin dinner
- A traditional barbeque in the desert, rice and salads, followed by their famous Habak tea, and entertained with Bedouin dancing and folk music.
Jeep Safari -
Water Park - CLEOPARK about 5mins from the center of Naama, towards airport
Stargazing in the desert - looking at stars thru proper equipment, have a meal & listen to the local guide explain about the constellations. Wrap up for that trip
Water sports - Wakebording, Watersking, Banana Boats, Ringos and more....
Golf -
Boat Hire - you can also hire a private boat for the day, food and drinks provided
(all the above you will find in naama bay, shop around for beat prices)
There is also a cinema, ice skating rink, ten pin bowling, go-karting & fun town amusement arcade all with in 2 minutes walk of Naama bay high st.
Day Trips
Mount Sinai
St Catherine's monastery (see the burning bush & cow carved in the rock, dating back to Moses's time) You'll visit Dahab on the way back
Ras Mohamed National park (visa req'd) boat trips, you can either snorkel at the 3 stops or just soak up the sun
Also you can do day trips to Cairo, Luxor, Petra & Alexandria
Do remember to get your visa if you plan to travel out of the
Sinai
Peninsular area.
Diving in Egypt
An amazing amount of diving trips are available in this region and further afield, (do remember that a visa may be required for some trips.)
The crystal blue, unusually warm water in this part of The Red Sea offer some of the best diving you will experience.
Dives for all levels of ability, novice to expert, Scuba or snorkeling.
